How did we come to have this machine

We came across one of these machines being used in a print works, for 'just late' work. You I am sure have had the experience, you take in your art work, and they say it will take two weeks, and two weeks later you call and they say its on the press, you go around and wait and they bring it to you. Well I walked through the wrong door and saw them putting it on a machine like this, operating not with a computer connection, but like a copier, and wrote down the name of it. Further research showed that I no longer had to have large runs to be cost effective, did not have to wait, and could have total control in house. What is more I could get a board and software that would allow me to typeset directly on a PC, and print directly, including photos if I wanted to, and all for a fraction of the cost I was paying. I bought this in 1998 or 1999, but it looks like new.

Its clean, looks like a large copier, sits in the corner of an office and we just pull it out (its on wheels) and fold out the input and output hoppers when we want to use it. Print what we want in minutes and then put it away again.

Within our group some of our businesses have changed, and over the last three years we have used it only twice. Even then, if you take the current low interest rates, it has been worth keeping for the occasional job. (Since writing this i have used it a few more times).

So why look to sell it now

Two reasons,

  1.  It cannot stay within the office it is in at present, as we have recently bought one large format photo printer, and want a second one, so the space is needed. I therefore have put find another place to put it.
  2. I can see work coming for this printer, and dont want to become involved in print orders, I would rather introduce the person who buys it, so they can get all the work flow if they want it.

Why don't we run a print business with it

I used to own two printing companies (printing from us was free if not available on time), and although there is plenty of work about, I too often ended up running the printing machines myself, this was before we had the Duplo, and in another part of the country, I cant do that now, as other commitments mean I need to be free to go off and see or do deals as the opportunities come up.

I already am a director of many companies and since the heart attack and bi-pass I am supposed to be slowing down, I have to resist the opportunity to take every opportunity.

Why include the computer

The reason we have included the computer, rather then just taking out the board and suggesting you install it another is that, this way you have a fully working system. Having got experience if you then want to move the board, install the software, drivers ect, on another computer then that is up to you. We had no problem and it went fine first attempt, but a few others, have said they had some difficulty in loading it, and needed an engineer to sort it for them.

The computer was costed at only £120 of the total price, and although we would take it out if you wanted, if you then cant get an interface working that would be your problem. We are not offering support.

How am I going to sell it.

Off this page at the price above, or possibly on ebay, or by promoting it in a printing magazine, or maybe I should tie up a franchise to allow a guaranteed income to be able to be produced with it.

It is sold as is, no guarantees etc, we know of no problem and will demonstrate it all working fully before you take it away. We have never had a breakdown, s far as I can recall, and the company that supplied it has engineers, provides supplies etc, so full support would be available from them if needed.

What to do now

If you have decided it is for you, just email me. You will need to collect it, which will require a reasonable sized vehicle, it will fit in the back of my Volvo estate. It has handles that come out, and it comes off its stand, but is still quite heavy, so you need two fit people to lift and move it. two average guys can do it. We will demonstrate it all working before it is taken apart, but it has full manuals.

If you want to buy and pay most when you collect this is possible, but we require a deposit of £1,000, which can be by cheque or by paypall.

We need a few days notice once you have committed to buying it, as the computer included is in use and we have to get a replacement and move all the data, tidy it up for you a bit etc.

The current price is a real bargain, I will not consider offers below this, or to be told where you can buy cheap copiers or other machines cheaper. The difference is in the running cost,. this is extremely fast and  cheap to run, copiers and computer printers are not.
