Valuing

Putting values on individual items

As to values of these items, this is difficult to say, if you look at recent sales at Christies (catalogues and results are online) and other auction houses that have specialist sales for cameras of this type, you will see very high prices being got, it as in any auction depends on how many people really want to buy on the day. If you look at specialist collectors shops you will find from time to time some of these cameras, and the more common box, folding and more recent cameras in the wider collection you may find in many places, from your local antique shops, camera dealers and at collectors fairs. Within the UK there are regular, large well attended collectors fairs with many people (large halls full)  making a good income from dealing in collectable cameras.

Collectable cameras like most antiques have appreciated in value and will outperform many other assets. They have yet however to catch up oil paintings which tend to have a similar appreciation to property. Some people including several of the experts on antique shows on the TV, have said that they are expecting them to appreciate  rapidly in the future.
