Large camera collection/tourist attraction

A developing opportunity - see below

Acrosstherange.JPG (19387 bytes)

A camera collection that traces the development of the camera from early wood and brass to the 35mm Nikon slr's of today.

In total there are 203 cameras, plus a collection of cases and a number of other pieces.

Although attracting very many people when used as an attraction, most coming to see the older and more unusual cameras, people get far more excited about the cameras that they saw that was like the one their mother, grandmother or some other relative used. Many middle aged and older people also like to show people the sort of camera they had in their youth.

This vast collection, is probably one of the finest in private hands that is of wide public interest.

It differs from others in that it represents the development, with many examples of all types, plus feature cameras like the one that has an automatic plate changeover mechanism, one a prototype that we believe was used to design the very first curtain shutter, to an early press camera.  Many would take photos today, while most are in museum condition. There  is however still room to improve the look of some others.

Most are tagged or identified in some way, and several collecting books are included to allow you to get all the information required to add display cards etc.

How we came by this collection

Sanderson1.JPG (18002 bytes) We built this collection over many years, the intention being to create a tourist attraction of interest to photographers. It was to have a museum of cameras and equipment, a number of working historic cameras that could be used by visitors and educational information about using cameras, lenses, and techniques.

We will consider selling it, renting it to a tourist attraction,
or some sort of joint venture deal

FoldingCamera.JPG (19783 bytes)
FoldingPressCamera1.JPG (14771 bytes) I originally wrote these pages up with the intention of selling the collection, but an opportunity has developed to work with GB Pictures, putting on exhibitions, allowing people to see historic cameras, historic prints and modern images. Find out more what GB Pictures are doing by looking at www.Gb-pictures.co.uk

I have not signed up a deal on this yet, but could do, so there is quite a lot of scope, for either you to put on events, provide the camera collection part of events or in other ways to become involved.

Where do I go from here.

If you chose to buy the collection, I had in mind a selling price of about £10,000, and turned down an offer for 8,500, only after to wish I had accepted it. Perhaps I might take an offer now if it was offered again.

If I put together a deal with GB Pictures, and decide to sell this as an opportunity to become involved in exhibitions then you will see I could greatly increase this price as the earning potential in several hundred thousand a year.

Make me an offer, cash, joint venture, part and part !!!
